Beautiful "Daisy" Motif Doily

Hippy Colors Coin Purse with Zipper Closure

This is crocheted with Coats & Clark Royale thread #10 and a #5 hook.  Click on the photo for actual size which is 5" x 3½"   The fabric is dense, strong and seamless so needs no lining as a coin purse.  The thread is color fast so one can toss it in the wash if it gets grubby.  I made something similar worked in the round many years ago, I've been using it to carry a comb, chapstick and such doohickeys for years and years.  These things are indestructible. Plus it's easy to find in the bottom of a bag.  I prefer these colors worked in the round because it grows into swirls of color with an especially cheerful effect. I added the little wrist strap for extra utility. It can be zipped inside if not needed.

"Cluny Lace" Motif for Tablecloth, Runner, Chair Set

This is a good piece to practice some more complex instructions - this one has a few extra turns. This sample was made as gift for a friend who wanted a tiny doily. It was made with DMC Cebelia #10 thread and an 8 or 9 hook and measured 6 inches across. This makes and elegant and sturdy dresser scarf or table runner.

Here are the instructions for the motif.  I'll post the entire pattern shortly, which includes instructions for joining motifs.

Elegant and Easy Doily

This was worked with #20 Thread Coats & Clarks Big Ball and #10 hook and measures 9¼ inches point to point. The pattern is from Coats & Clarks Book No. 285 "All Time Favorites" published in 1980.

I believe this pretty old pattern may be in the public domain, it was once featured in "Old Time Crochet". I haven't found the pattern on the web yet.
The 1980 patternbook called Red Heart Lustersheen, a size 5 hook and measured 19 inches across. I made the pattern once with a cotton and rayon yarn, and a size 2 hook. It measured about 23 inches across.

It works up quickly. If you want to make an elegant doily and time is short, this is a good choice. It's best worked firmly so the pattern is well delineated.

Crocheted Pinwheel Tablecloth

This should work up quickly, the motifs are joined as you go, and no fill in motifs!
Work several motifs with the edging for an easy runner or doily.  This is a nice beginner pattern for someone to practice joining motifs with thread crochet.
